In Monday's meeting, we discussed "Cascade" by Maryanne O'Hara, a local author who based her historic fiction novel on the events surrounding the flooding of the former town of Quabbin, Massachusetts, to create the Quabbin Reservoir.
We had a mix of attendees - some of whom had read the book, some who hadn't, and one who was almost done - and a great discussion about the role of women, the macro/world events that impacted life in the 1930s, and the question of "what do we owe the dead?"
We also chose our next three books for the Feb.-April meetings. They are:
"The Book Thief" - Markus Zusak
"Me Before You" - Jojo Moyes
"The Weird Sisters" - Eleanor Brown
Loved Me Before You. I look forward to our discussion.
